Inkjet Paper At Limited Papers
The green buying trend that's been sweeping the nation has hit inkjet paper users too. Consumers have begun to question companies about their attention to recycling and decreasing the carbon footprint. Paper manufacturers have responded with Earth-friendly practices. Brands such as Strathmore and Evergreen printer papers announce their efforts right on the packaging. Let Limited Papers walk you through the green-paper landscape.
Some of the ecology-minded labels you'll see on laser and inkjet paper are:
- Tree-free
- Acid-free
- Elemental chlorine-free
- Green-E certified
- Carbon-neutral
Defining "Green" Inkjet Paper
What do all these labels mean? Even before the emphasis on sustainable harvesting of trees, cotton paper was a favorite of scribes and printers. "Tree-free" means the laser and inkjet paper is composed of 100 percent cotton rag. The absence of acid and chlorine keep those elements out of groundwater.
Green-E certification is bestowed on paper makers that use renewable energy, such as solar or wind, to power their operations. Creating paper that is "carbon neutral" means that renewable resources offset any harmful emissions.
These factors barely touch on the recycled content issue. Tree products from major manufacturers such as Mohawk and Evergreen printer papers may be up to 100-percent recycled, with a portion of that being post-consumer fiber. Cotton paper may use reclaimed cotton rag from fabric company remnants and pieces, or it may incorporate a percentage of recycled paper made from trees.
